Co-curricular Program

Our co-curricular programs aim to further develop students’ special skills and talents.

Activities include:

  • the Writers club
  • Italian lessons
  • small group music lessons in conjunction with Springwood School of Music
  • the Chess club
  • creative and practical arts program
  • debating
  • school musical productions
  • sport (interschool and intra-school)
  • choir and musical performances
  • author visits
  • visits from music and drama groups
  • the Premier’s Reading Challenge
  • the Music club
  • dance and drama
  • special education and learning programs

St Thomas Aquinas also offers a number of special education, and gifted and talented programs designed around individual needs.

Our programs include:

  • STARS – Special Education Support Team
  • Speech and occupational therapists work with students
  • Writers club - literacy support and extension
  • parent tutor - reading support targeted for individual student needs
  • home tutor – developed by the school to assist parents in helping their children with reading at home
  • school-wide literacy groups catering for remediation and extension in literacy (students in needs-based groups)
  • gifted and talented students - participation in special programs (inter-school Science enrichment days, Kids Congress, University of NSW competitions)
  • Mathematics (web-based mathematical program)
